Dear members,

We are happy to announce a collaboration between JAR-Association and the SimpliVi Project – “Simplifying Cross-Border Judicial Videoconferencing in Europe” with regards to their final event in mid-September. The conference is organized by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Justice (Project Coordinator) in collaboration with Court of Appeal Wrocław (Project Partner and Conference Host).

The event is to deliver a deep look on the project topic and beyond. It will present an overview of the European legal basis for judicial cross-border videoconferencing and several experience reports from European Member States and organizations. The presentations will cover legal, organizational and technical aspects on the matter of judicial videoconferencing. It will further present the long-awaited SimplVi Recommendations and Best Practices for the first time and will engage in a discussion about the topics raised therein. Member State representatives, judicial practitioners, representatives of international organizations and the academic community are invited to participate and get involved in the discussions about judicial cross-border videoconferencing (see official invitation).

The SimpliVi Conference takes place on 17 & 18 September 2025 at the Court of Appeal Wrocław, Poland (as per draft agenda).

JAR-Association is formally organizing and hosting the first session of the Conference on international legal and academic perspective. Presentations will be delivered by DG JUST representative and three JAR-A members – Dr Marijke Ter Voert, Dr Elena Alina Ontanu, and Dr Anne Wallace. Moderation of the session is to be delivered by Alexandra Tsvetkova (member of the JAR-A GB).

All JAR-A members are invited to take part online or on site, with registration needed in both cases; please follow this link: https://simplivi.eu/node/60

Please note that onsite participation is on the first-come-first-served basis and upon confirmation by the organizers due to room limitations and other hosting restrictions of the Court. Further, any onsite participation is on participant’s own discretion and expenses, with no personalized trip organization and/or funding support provided by the SimplVi Project.
